Fusion Reactor
The Fusion Reactor converts Deuterium into Fuel Cells. In the current live
s2 rules, it does not power your normal energy grid.
That makes it a logistics and mission-boost building, not a replacement for Solar Plants or Solar Satellites.
Quick Stats
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Produces | Fuel Cells |
| Consumes | Deuterium |
| Powers live Energy grid | No |
| Prerequisites | Deuterium Synthesizer 5, Fusion 1 |
How It Works
The Fusion Reactor creates Fuel Cells from its effective reactor output.
The building first calculates reactor output:
fusion_output
= 22 × level × 1.04^level × production_slider
× (1 + 0.05 × Energy Technology)
× (1 + 0.10 × Fusion)
× (1 + 0.05 × Fusion)
Then Fuel Cells are charged from that output:
fuel_cells_per_hour = fusion_output / 80
Important Player Rule
Fusion Reactor output is stored as Fuel Cells instead of feeding your normal Energy bar.
If your mines need live Energy, you still need:
Deuterium Consumption
The reactor also burns Deuterium while it runs:
deuterium_per_hour
= 16 × level × 1.12^level × production_slider
So both output and fuel consumption scale with the reactor's production slider.
If your Deuterium economy is weak, a high reactor slider can hurt more than it helps.
Fuel Cell Storage Bonus
Fusion Reactor levels also increase Fuel Cell storage.
The storage bonus is:
fusion_storage_bonus
= floor(metal_storage_capacity_at_same_level / 10)
That bonus stacks on top of the normal Fuel Cell storage base:
base_fuel_cell_storage = max(5,000, energy_max × 12)
This is why Fusion Reactor investment improves both:
- Fuel Cell generation
- Fuel Cell storage capacity
Example Output
At 100% slider, Energy Technology 0, and Fusion 1:
| Level | Fuel Cells/Hour | Deuterium/Hour |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0.33 | 17.92 |
| 5 | 1.93 | 140.99 |
| 10 | 4.70 | 496.94 |
| 15 | 8.58 | 1,313.66 |
| 20 | 13.92 | 3,086.81 |
Higher Energy Technology and Fusion research push the Fuel Cell side higher.
When Fusion Reactor Is Worth It
Fusion Reactor is strongest when:
- you actively use Fuel Cell mission boosts
- you depend on Sensor Phalanx or Jump Gate usage
- you trade Fuel Cells or move them between worlds
- your Deuterium income is healthy enough to feed the reactor
It is weaker when:
- your Deuterium income is tight
- you actually need live Energy for mine output
- you are trying to solve a mine power shortage
Strategy Tips
- Treat Fusion Reactor as a Fuel Cell economy building, not a mine-energy building.
- Only run high sliders if your Deuterium production can support them.
- Pair Fusion Reactor with Fuel Cell Technology, otherwise the world will not store the output as Fuel Cells.
- High-level Fusion Reactors are especially valuable on worlds that support moon utility or deep-space mission play.
