Missile Silo

Missile Silo

The Missile Silo stores and launches both defensive and offensive missiles.

Overview

Property Value
Type Military Facility
Function Store and launch missiles
Prerequisites Shipyard 1

Description

The Missile Silo provides storage for Anti-Ballistic Missiles (ABMs) and Interplanetary Missiles (IPMs). It enables both defensive interception of incoming missiles and offensive strikes against enemy defenses. Once the silo is completed, it can also auto-build a selected missile type in a dedicated missile lane.

Capacity

Storage Formula

Total Slots = Silo Level * 20

Slot Usage

  • Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM): 1 slot each
  • Interplanetary Missile (IPM): 2 slots each

Capacity Table

Level Total Slots Max ABMs Max IPMs Or Mixed
1 20 20 10 -
2 40 40 20 20 ABM + 10 IPM
4 80 80 40 -
6 120 120 60 -
10 200 200 100 -

Missile Types

Anti-Ballistic Missiles (ABM)

  • Purpose: Intercept incoming IPMs
  • Required Silo Level: 2
  • Slots Used: 1
  • Cost: Metal 8,000, Crystal 2,000, Deuterium 100

Interplanetary Missiles (IPM)

  • Purpose: Destroy enemy defenses
  • Required Silo Level: 4
  • Slots Used: 2
  • Cost: Metal 10,000, Crystal 5,000, Deuterium 25,000
  • Launch Range: Astrophysics level 1+

Automatic Missile Production

Completed silos unlock an automation toggle in the missile details panel.

  • Choose whether the silo should stock ABMs or IPMs
  • Auto-build uses a dedicated missile lane and does not consume shipyard queue slots
  • A new missile starts only when requirements are met, resources are available, and the silo still has free capacity
  • Automation pauses automatically at max capacity and resumes when space opens again
  • The Shipyard missile details panel also includes a DESTROY button that removes all stored missiles of the selected type on that planet

Automatic ABM Restocking

If ABM automation is enabled and incoming IPMs consume your stored ABMs:

  • the defending world recalculates its current resources immediately
  • the silo checks whether it can afford a replacement ABM
  • if it can, it starts rebuilding that ABM in the dedicated missile lane

This lets defended planets and moons restock after missile pressure without tying up the normal shipyard queue.

Missile Build Speed

Each Missile Silo level reduces build time for missiles (ABM and IPM) by 25%:

Missile Build Time = Base Time * (0.75 ^ Silo Level)

Construction Costs

Formula

Metal = 20,000 * 2^Level
Crystal = 20,000 * 2^Level
Deuterium = 1,000 * 2^Level

Cost Table

Level Metal Crystal Deuterium
1 20,000 20,000 1,000
2 40,000 40,000 2,000
4 160,000 160,000 8,000
6 640,000 640,000 32,000

IPM Mechanics

Range

IPM range is limited:

Max Range = Astrophysics Level * 5 - 1 (systems)
Astrophysics Level Range (Systems)
1 4
2 9
3 14
5 24
10 49

Targeting

When launching IPMs:

  1. Choose target coordinates
  2. Select specific defense type (optional)
  3. IPMs destroy defenses until depleted

Defense Priority

If no specific target chosen, IPMs target defenses at random.

ABM Defense

Interception

Each ABM intercepts one incoming IPM:

  • Automatic interception
  • ABM is consumed
  • IPM is destroyed before impact

Strategy

  • Keep ABMs stocked if you have valuable defenses
  • ABMs only protect one planet
  • Monitor hostile players' missile capabilities
  • Enable ABM automation if you want the silo to rebuild spent interceptors whenever resources allow

Strategy

Offensive Use

IPMs are useful for:

  • Clearing defenses before attacks
  • Harassment
  • Removing shield domes

Defensive Use

ABMs protect against:

  • IPM strikes
  • Defense destruction
  • Repeated missile pressure when auto-restocking is enabled

Build Priority

  • Silo is optional for many players
  • Build if facing missile threats
  • Build if planning missile attacks
  • Use DESTROY if you need to wipe old ABM or IPM stock quickly before changing automation or freeing slots
